The Deputy Minister of Health attended a medical examination and gift-giving program in An Chau commune.
On the morning of November 16th, in An Chau commune, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, in coordination with the Nghe An Department of Health and partner hospitals and units, organized the health program "Love Yourself - For a Healthier Vietnam: Screening for Cardiovascular, Kidney, and Metabolic Diseases".

Attending the program were: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Minister of Health; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thanh Binh - President of the Vietnam Health Workers' Union; Master of Pharmacy Nguyen Huu Tu - Deputy Head of the Youth and Children's Affairs Department, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Standing Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association.
Representing Nghe An province were: Dr. Le Thi Hoai Chung, Specialist Doctor Level 2 - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Nghe An Department of Health; Dr. Nguyen Van Thuong, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Health; Ho Phuc Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union; Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Specialist Doctor Level 2 - President of the Nghe An Young Doctors Association, Director of the Nghe An Lung Hospital; and representatives from the leadership of Dien Chau General Hospital and An Chau commune.

The health program "Love Yourself - For a Healthier Vietnam: Screening for Cardiovascular, Kidney, and Metabolic Diseases" is a practical activity aimed at implementing Resolution No. 20/NQ-TW dated October 25, 2017, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on strengthening the protection, care, and improvement of people's health in the new situation; Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 9, 2025, of the Politburo on strengthening the protection, care, and improvement of people's health in the new situation; and following the direction of General Secretary To Lam on the goal of "Striving for every citizen to receive a health check-up at least once a year".

The program, implemented in An Chau commune, Nghe An province, aims to detect risk factors early, provide lifestyle counseling and health behavior adjustments; and build a non-communicable risk map of the community based on scientific data.
Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong praised and highly appreciated the responsible coordination of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, the Department of Health, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, the Vietnam Health Promotion Consulting Association, central and local hospitals, as well as the team of doctors, pharmacists, volunteers and partner units who have joined hands to make this meaningful program a success.

These efforts not only bring direct value to local people but also contribute to promoting the strategic directions of the health sector in the new phase: building a modern, equitable, and efficient health system based on primary and preventive healthcare, promoting scientific development, applying high technology, and carrying out extensive digital transformation.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong requested the Nghe An Department of Health, hospitals, and health centers to study the possibility of applying the health program "Love Yourself - For a Healthier Vietnam: Screening for Cardiovascular, Kidney, and Metabolic Diseases" as a supplementary solution to the province's non-communicable disease management system, in line with the digital transformation orientation of the health sector and the vision of building a modern, smart, and sustainable primary healthcare system.

On behalf of the Nghe An Health Department, Director Le Thi Hoai Chung expressed deep gratitude for the kind sentiments and noble gestures of the Ministry of Health, the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, and partner organizations towards An Chau commune in particular and Nghe An province in general; and also acknowledged the directives of the Deputy Minister of Health to continue developing the Nghe An health sector.

At the event, the Organizing Committee presented 40 gifts to disadvantaged families; 40 meaningful gifts to underprivileged students who have strived to excel in their studies; and 20 gifts to encourage medical staff affected by storms and floods.
Doctors conducted medical examinations and screenings for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic diseases for 1,000 residents of An Chau commune; and provided guidance on care and treatment for those at risk of developing non-communicable chronic diseases.
