Australian Prime Minister declares victory

(Baonghean.vn)- On July 10, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull officially announced that the ruling Liberal-National Coalition had won the recent parliamentary election.

Speaking to the press, Prime Minister Turnbull stated: "Labor Party leader Bill Shorten called and congratulated me on my re-election as Prime Minister. We won the election."

“I know many people may think I am being overly sensitive, but I was really touched when Bill Shorten called to congratulate me while I was holding my one-year-old granddaughter…It was really a reminder that we are all trustees of future generations, Bill and I,” said Prime Minister Turnbull.

During the phone call, opposition Labor leader Shorten conceded defeat in the July 2 election. The politician also affirmed that the Labor Party is ready to work with Prime Minister Turnbull’s Government to find “common ground” and perform its parliamentary functions well for the national interest.

According to Prime Minister Turnbull, politics is not for politicians, for the media, but for Australians and future generations of Australia./.
