Prime Minister: Ensure to achieve GDP growth target of 6.7%
On the evening of May 22, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting with ministries and branches on growth scenarios for 2017.
At the regular Government meeting in April 2017 and in the Government's Report at the opening session of the 3rd session of the 14th National Assembly on the morning of May 22, the Government consistently advocated striving to achieve the economic growth target of 6.7% in 2017.
Some specific indicators in the main sectors are: The agricultural sector increased by 3.05%, of which agricultural exports reached over 33 billion USD; the industrial and construction sector increased by 7.91%, of which the industrial sector increased by 8%, construction increased by 10.5%, the service sector grew by 7.19%, of which tourists increased by 30%. Strengthening the attraction of resources for investment and development, focusing on enterprise development, attracting foreign investment.

The issue of economic growth in 2017 is very important, greatly affecting many other macroeconomic indicators, especially revenue, expenditure and state budget deficit, public debt as well as employment and income for workers. 2017 is the second year of the 5-year plan 2016-2020. The Prime Minister emphasized the requirement to achieve the target of 6.7% set for 2017 to contribute to the successful implementation of the 5-year growth target set by the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly.
In that spirit, the Prime Minister requested Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, and Heads of sectors, according to their assigned fields of work, to focus on directing decisively, regularly meeting, updating the situation, and proactively having appropriate solutions, striving to achieve the set goals for each sector and field, ensuring the achievement of the GDP growth target of 6.7%.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to synthesize the report and the ministries, especially the production management ministries such as: Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Construction, Transport and Communications to report to the Government on the implementation of each sectoral and sectoral growth target at the monthly Government meetings. The ministries and sectors that synthesize such as: Planning and Investment, Finance, State Bank must report specifically on solutions to remove difficulties, promote growth while ensuring macroeconomic stability, creating a foundation for sustainable growth.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Government Office to collect opinions from Deputy Prime Ministers and ministries and branches to urgently complete the draft Directive of the Prime Minister on key tasks and solutions to promote growth in sectors and fields to achieve the set growth target for 2017, and submit it to the Prime Minister for signing and promulgation to focus on implementation./.
