Prime Minister praises supermarkets for using banana leaves instead of nylon bags
Government leaders called on businesses, together with the Government and society, to make efforts to reduce the use of nylon bags and plastic waste.
In early April, a series of large supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi switched to using banana leaves to wrap vegetables and food instead of nylon bags. At the same time, supermarkets are also competing to use and distribute environmentally friendly packaging products.
In a letter dated April 5, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised supermarkets and businesses for proactively using natural products to wrap food instead of nylon bags to protect the environment.
"This is a practical measure to limit the use and discharge of nylon waste into the environment, actively contributing to changing the awareness, responsibility, and habits of using nylon bags of supermarkets and consumers, protecting the living environment, for the benefit of the community," the Prime Minister emphasized.
