The Prime Minister has ordered an investigation into reports that a department has 23 excess staff members.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has requested the Ministry of Interior to urgently investigate and clarify information regarding the Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's appointment of 23 "excess" officials.

The Ministry of Interior must report the inspection results to the Prime Minister before March 31st.

Previously, Tien Phong newspaper reported that the Thai Nguyen Department of Agriculture and Rural Development had 23 leadership positions, more than the number stipulated in the job position plan. Many departments and specialized divisions had more leaders than specialists, or exceeded the number stipulated in the plan.

Regarding the appointment and recruitment of officials, many inspection reports by the Ministry of Interior in several units and localities in the past have indicated "problems".

The agency has made recommendations to revoke the appointment decision and to consider the responsibility of the collective and individuals involved.
