(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 28th, the U23 players had the honor of meeting and congratulating Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc after waiting for more than 5 hours.
At nearly 7:00 PM this evening (January 28th), the Vietnam U23 team arrived at the Government headquarters to a warm welcome from the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister expressed: "I have been waiting here for more than 5 hours. Never before has a Prime Minister waited so long, but never before has there been such great joy because this wait is intertwined with the joy of the people of the whole country, especially the people of Hanoi. I understand that you are all very hungry and tired. I believe that with this joy, even hunger can bring happiness. I wish you a meaningful meeting; it's rare for Vietnam to reach the final of the U23 Asian Championship."
According to the plan, after the welcoming ceremony at Noi Bai International Airport, the U23 team was supposed to pay their respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum before going to the Government Headquarters for a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. However, the program could not proceed as planned due to the overwhelming welcome the U23 Vietnam team received upon their return from the capital.
At the Government Headquarters, the Prime Minister awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the entire team, the Third Class Labor Medals to Coach Park Hang-seo, Goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung and Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, along with Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister to 31 other members of the team.
