Prime Minister witnesses fish living in Formosa wastewater lake
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc this morning led a delegation to inspect environmental protection work at Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation (FHS).
The delegation included Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and leaders of Ha Tinh province.

The Prime Minister and the delegation inspected fish raised at the biological indicator pond, the iron smelting department office, the iron rolling mill area, the hot-rolled steel mill and the Formosa wharf area.
The Prime Minister witnessed fish being able to survive in the biological indicator lake water environment.
The biological indicator pond is located next to the wastewater treatment area. After treatment, wastewater will be discharged into this pond, and Formosa will use this water to raise fish. Only when the fish are healthy will they be allowed to be discharged into the environment.

According to Formosa's report, after more than 1 year since the marine environmental incident, 52/53 violations have been corrected.
As of May 10, Formosa has completed additional waste treatment projects, environmental monitoring and incident prevention projects.
After inspection, the interdisciplinary council agreed to allow Formosa to test-operate blast furnace No. 1 and steel mill.
On May 29, Formosa tested blast furnace No. 1, on June 1 tested the steel mill, and by June 12, it had produced the first 1,000 tons of commercial steel.
