These days, 49 years ago, at the fierce time of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the place name Dong Loc T-junction went down in history and became immortal. Because of the strategic importance of a vital intersection on the route of transporting food, ammunition, weapons... from the Northern rear to support the Southern front, Dong Loc became the focus of fierce attacks, where the US imperialists continuously bombed in an attempt to cut off the traffic artery. According to statistics, each square meter of land here bore 3 bombs.
In just 240 days and nights from March to October 1968, the enemy air force dropped 48,600 bombs of all kinds here. However, tens of thousands of soldiers, soldiers, traffic workers, youth volunteers and people still stubbornly held on, braved the rain of bombs to fight the enemy, connect the road, and ensure the road for trucks carrying goods to the front line. Hundreds of the nation's best sons fell, forever remaining on this sacred land with the legendary Highway 15A, dedicating their youth to the happiness of the nation and the future of the country. Among them were 10 female youth volunteers of Squad 4 of Company 552, Youth Volunteer Corps 55 of Ha Tinh province.
They passed away at a very young age, none of them were married. Their heroic sacrifices contributed to shining the light of revolutionary heroism, becoming a symbol of the great dedication of millions of young people who sacrificed themselves for the country, not sparing their youth for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
