German Chancellor: It's time to discuss ending the conflict in Ukraine.
The German Chancellor said it was time to discuss ending the conflict in Ukraine.

According to RIA Novosti, in an interview with ZDF television on September 8, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, It is time to discuss how to expedite the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
"I think now is the time we need to discuss how to transition from the current state of war to peace. This process needs to be faster than it is possible at this moment," said the German Chancellor.
Prime Minister Olaf Scholz He also reiterated that Western countries and Ukraine are planning to hold another "peace conference," and that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want to see Russia present among the participants.
MoscowKyiv has repeatedly expressed its willingness to negotiate, but it has yet to lift the ban on talks at the legislative level.
On September 5th, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum and commenting on the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow has never rejected a peaceful solution to the conflict. However, it must be based on documents that have been agreed upon and actually preliminarily signed in Istanbul (Türkiye), and not on some temporary needs.
In June 2024, Russian President Putin put forward initiatives aimed at peacefully resolving the conflict in Ukraine: Moscow would immediately cease fire and declare its readiness to negotiate, after Ukrainian troops withdrew from the territories recently annexed by Russia. Additionally, Kyiv had to declare its abandonment of NATO membership and implement demilitarization, as well as accept neutral, non-aligned, and nuclear-free status.
