According to RIA Novosti on February 15, in an interview with famous American journalist Tucker Carlson, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban predicted that the conflict in Ukraine will end within 6 months or sooner.

Asked by journalist Tucker Carlson if he considered a six-month deadline to end the conflict realistic, Prime Minister Orban said: "Yeah, definitely, even sooner. I think so."

Prime Minister Orban also noted that, according to Hungarian polls conducted among EU citizens, “the majority is moving towards a peaceful stance and there are now more people in favor of peace.” According to another survey, all Western European countries believe that future generations will live worse off, while in all Central and Eastern European countries people still “believe in a better future” for their children.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed confidence that sooner or later the West will abandon Ukraine without support, as they have done for the past 70 years, and Kiev was wrong to trust them.

According to the Hungarian leader, the West has turned Ukraine from a buffer zone between Russia and NATO into a military buffer zone. Therefore, Mr. Orban said, the “big and difficult task” in the next few decades is “how to imagine the territory between NATO and Russia, what to call it, how to manage it, how to ensure the future for the people and the territory”.

According to Mr. Orban, Russia has accepted the inclusion of former Warsaw Pact countries such as Hungary in NATO, while reiterating that this is unfair because there were promises to the contrary.

Orban also stressed that he has always called on Western countries not to forget that the real reason for the start of the special military operation was not Ukraine, but NATO's expansion, and convinced them that "Russia will never accept Kiev's accession to the alliance and will not allow it to come close to its borders."
