According to RIA Novosti on February 15, in an interview with renowned American journalist Tucker Carlson, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban predicted that the conflict in Ukraine would end within six months or sooner.

When journalist Tucker Carlson asked him whether he considered the six-month deadline for ending the conflict realistic, Prime Minister Orban replied: "Yes, absolutely, even sooner. I think so."

Prime Minister Orban also noted that, according to Hungarian polls conducted among EU citizens, "the majority are leaning towards a peaceful stance and there are now more peace advocates." According to another survey, all Western European countries believe that future generations will live worse lives, while in all Central and Eastern European countries people still "believe in a better future" for their children.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed his belief that, sooner or later, the West would abandon Ukraine without support, as they have done for the past 70 years, and that Kyiv was mistaken to trust them.

According to the Hungarian leader, the West has transformed Ukraine from a buffer zone between Russia and NATO into a military buffer zone. Therefore, Orban argues that the "big and difficult task" in the coming decades is "how to envision the territory between NATO and Russia, what to call it, how to manage it, and how to secure the future for its people and territory."

According to Orban, Russia has agreed to include former Warsaw Pact countries like Hungary into NATO, while reiterating that this is unfair because there have been promises to the contrary.

Orban also emphasized that he has always urged Western countries not to forget that the real reason for the start of the special military operation was not Ukraine, but the expansion of NATO, and convinced them that "Russia will never accept Kyiv joining the alliance and will not allow it to get close to its borders."
