Israeli Prime Minister declares to continue self-defense against Hamas

Earlier the same day, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to take all measures to prevent any violations of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip. The leader said Israel would continue to defend itself against Hamas, declaring its war was against Hamas, not against Palestinian civilians.

The ICJ has announced provisional measures to ensure Palestinian rights are protected while awaiting a final decision on the case. Israel must submit a report to the court on all measures taken within a month.
Lior Ben Dor, spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said the Jewish state regretted the ICJ's decision to take up the case regarding allegations of genocide against the country. He described the military operation in Gaza as complex and stressed the need to continue to protect Israel and free hostages from Hamas.
South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel at the ICJ on December 29 last year, accusing it of committing genocide in Gaza, where more than 26,000 people have been killed.
