Prime Minister invites billionaire Bill Gates to participate in strategic consulting

The Gates Foundation focuses on activities including agricultural development, financial services for the poor, clean water and sanitation, universal education, health and nutrition. In addition, the Gates Foundation conducts activities in the field of public health and population health, focusing on infectious diseases, endemic diseases and tropical diseases.

In addition to the Gates Foundation, Bill Gates has established Energy Breakthrough Ventures (EBV) and Gates Ventures, which aim to promote innovation in sustainable energy and other technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. EBV invests in many startups that are trying to commercialize new technologies. Gates Ventures is an advisory organization on global health and development issues as well as a technology investment portfolio.

In Vietnam, Microsoft Corporations has had many activities and specific contributions to the technology sector in Vietnam over the past years. In terms of health, one of Bill Gates's outstanding activities is his contribution to the Global Health Fund to support Vietnam's anti-tuberculosis, malaria and HIV programs in recent times. The Gates Foundation also supports activities using technology to combat climate change in the Mekong Delta...

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the goodwill and cooperation activities and support for Vietnam of Mr. Bill Gates personally as well as the foundations.

Inviting Mr. Bill Gates to visit Vietnam again, the Prime Minister also asked him to support and assist the activities of the National Innovation Center (the new facility of this Center is expected to open next month), as well as inspire and motivate the young generation of Vietnam in innovation.

The Prime Minister also hopes that Mr. Bill Gates, with his vision, knowledge, experience and capacity, will participate in strategic consulting on science, technology and innovation, contributing to helping Vietnam develop strongly and sustainably in this very important period.

At the same time, the Prime Minister asked Mr. Bill Gates, through funds, to continue to support and advocate for innovative start-up activities, science and technology, climate change response, promoting green transformation, green growth, developing renewable energy, improving healthcare and education capacity... The Prime Minister said that Vietnam is prioritizing promoting development based on science and technology, innovation, including developing the production and supply chain of semiconductor chips...

For his part, Bill Gates said he has always been very interested in and closely followed the development of Vietnam. Vietnam is very important in the development policy of Microsoft and its funds; he highly appreciated Vietnam's development achievements in many aspects in recent times, especially the impressive results in economic growth and medical achievements, especially in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said he wanted to continue promoting cooperation and support activities for Vietnam, focusing on the fields of sanitation, clean water, and environment; healthcare, especially tuberculosis prevention; AI and advanced educational models. He also said he would deliver a message on the occasion of Vietnam's opening of the new facility of the National Innovation Center.
