In order to call on units, businesses, and kind-hearted people nationwide to join hands to support the poor to enjoy the Spring Festival and celebrate Tet, on the evening of January 18, the program "Humanitarian Power 2020" with the theme "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange" Spring Canh Ty 2020 organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the program and directly sent a message of support to the poor.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu - President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society said that in its role, over the years the Vietnam Red Cross Society has implemented many effective and practical social humanitarian assistance programs.
In 2019, the total value of humanitarian activities of the Red Cross Society nationwide reached about 4,300 billion VND, assisting over 21.1 million people nationwide.
Notably, the movement to support "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims" initiated by the Association since 1999 has had a strong influence in the community, attracting more than 7,700 billion VND, helping over 25 million poor households, Agent Orange victims, policy families, people affected by natural disasters and catastrophes with many diverse and practical forms of assistance such as: giving cash, giving cows, giving houses, medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine...
Speaking at the program, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assessed that this is a program with profound humanistic meaning, strongly promoting the spirit of "mutual love and support" of the Vietnamese people for generations.
The Prime Minister commended the efforts of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in mobilizing all social resources to care for the poor and people in difficult circumstances, helping to ease their hardships and encouraging them to improve their lives.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that after more than 30 years of renovation, the country has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements of historical significance in all fields, with relatively high economic growth, increasingly better social security, and significantly improved people's lives in all regions.
Despite the impact of the market economy, the good humanitarian values of our ancestors are still preserved and continue to be strongly promoted, especially the spirit of "mutual love and support", the whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind, actively contributing to building a solid social security system for the country.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on agencies, businesses, philanthropists, and Vietnamese people at home and abroad to continue supporting people facing difficulties such as people in remote areas, islands, border areas, people affected by natural disasters, and victims of Agent Orange.
In order to mobilize people nationwide to join hands to support poor families, Agent Orange victims, and people affected by natural disasters to have more conditions to enjoy Spring and welcome the New Year of the Rat 2020, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society coordinated with the National Humanitarian Information Portal 1400 to launch a text message program to support the movement "Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims" Spring of the Rat 2020.
People who text TET to 1409 will donate 20,000 VND to help the poor and Agent Orange victims have better conditions to celebrate Tet. The program lasts until February 7.
