Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae pays an official visit to Vietnam.

At the invitation of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae paid an official visit to Vietnam from May 1 to 3.

The delegation included: Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Sato Kei; Secretary-General of the National Security Council Ichikawa Keiichi; Assistant to the Prime Minister Uno Yoshimasa; Special Advisor to the Cabinet Office Iijima Isao; Secretary for Public Relations Saiki Kozo; Secretary to the Prime Minister Iida Yuji; Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Namazu Hiroyuki; Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Matsuo Takehiko; Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Watanabe Yoichi; Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Terada Yoshimichi; Vice Minister of Defense Kano Koji; Vice Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Imagawa Takuo, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam Ito Naoki.

Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae was born on March 7, 1961, in Nara Prefecture; he holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Kobe University, Japan.

In 1993, she was first elected to the House of Representatives. From September 2006 to August 2007, she served as Minister in charge of Okinawa and Northern Territories affairs, innovation, responding to declining birth rates, food security, and also as Minister in charge of science and technology policy.

From December 2012 to September 2014, she served as the Head of Policy Research for the Liberal Democratic Party.

From September 2014 to August 2017, she served as Minister of Home Affairs and Communications. From August 2016 to August 2017, she also held the position of Minister in charge of the identification code system. From September 2019 to September 2020, she served as Minister of Home Affairs and Communications concurrently as Minister in charge of the identification code system.

From August 2022 to October 2024, she served as Minister in charge of Economic Security and concurrently as Minister in charge of science, technology, space, and intellectual property policy.

Since October 4, 2025, she has held the position of the 29th Chairperson of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan.

On October 21, 2025, she became the 104th Prime Minister of Japan.
