"We agreed that we should once again demonstrate the importance of free trade. We reaffirmed that we will work towards the early entry into force of the TPP and the swift completion of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RECP)," ABC News quoted Abe as saying yesterday.

This was an important topic in the official meeting between the Japanese Prime Minister and Australian Prime Minister Turnbull yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Turnbull described the relationship between the two countries as "closer and stronger than ever before."

The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement to enhance the capabilities of their defense forces, support each other in operations and exercises. The two countries will focus on agreements to facilitate joint exercises and increase cooperation with the United States to ensure regional security.

Prime Minister Abe stated that, in the context of increasing political and economic security instability, ensuring and strengthening a rules-based and freedom-based world order is crucial.

"It is more necessary than ever for Japan and Australia to play a leading role in ensuring peace and prosperity in the region, as the two countries share common values ​​such as freedom, the rule of law, and democracy," Abe said.

Prime Minister Abe will visit Indonesia today and Vietnam tomorrow. His four-country tour, which includes the Philippines, aims to strengthen trade and security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
