On the morning of March 21, at the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the welcoming ceremony for Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and the high-level delegation of the Federal Government of Malaysia on their official visit to Vietnam from March 20-21, 2022.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were ministers and leaders from various ministries and agencies: the Government Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia, and ambassadors of ASEAN countries to Vietnam.

When the motorcade carrying Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and the high-level delegation of the Malaysian Federal Government arrived at the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh personally greeted Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob at the car door. The two Prime Ministers happily shook hands warmly. Children from Hanoi presented flowers and waved to Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob and the high-level delegation of the Malaysian Federal Government.

The two Prime Ministers stepped onto the honorary platform, under the national flags of both countries, while the national anthems of both countries were played solemnly. Following this, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob to review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully introduced the members of the high-level Vietnamese delegation; Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob introduced the delegation of the Malaysian Federal Government on this official visit to Vietnam.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers held talks at the Government Headquarters.

This is Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob's first visit to Vietnam as Prime Minister of Malaysia since taking office in August 2021.

According to the program, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob will pay courtesy calls on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue.

The official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob to Vietnam takes place amidst the flourishing traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia. The two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1973-2023).

The visit aims to further strengthen bilateral relations and enhance the synergy between the two countries in post-COVID-19 cooperation. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for both sides to explore new aspects of bilateral cooperation; discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern; and promote trade and investment between the two countries.
