Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will pay an official visit to Vietnam.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of the Republic of Singapore and his wife will pay an official visit to Vietnam from March 21 to 24, 2017.

Vietnam and Singapore have seen rapid and strong development in their bilateral relations in recent times.

Political relations have become increasingly trustworthy and close through regular exchanges of delegations and high-level contacts, especially the State visit to Singapore by President Tran Dai Quang (August 2016) and the official visit to Vietnam by Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean (September 2016), which have created new impetus for the stronger development of relations between the two countries.

Singapore has consistently been Vietnam's leading trade and investment partner for many years, with bilateral trade reaching US$9.3 billion in 2015 and investment totaling nearly US$38 billion as of June 2016.

After 20 years of operation in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has become a symbol of effective economic cooperation between the two countries, while also demonstrating the investment commitment and confidence of Singaporean investors in the stability and economic development of Vietnam.
