Vietnam and Singapore have had rapid and strong developments in bilateral relations in recent times.

Political relations have become increasingly trustworthy and close through regular exchanges of delegations and high-level contacts, especially the State visit to Singapore by President Tran Dai Quang (August 2016) and the official visit to Vietnam by Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean (September 2016), creating new impetus for stronger development of the relationship between the two countries.

Singapore has been Vietnam's leading trade and investment partner for many years, with two-way trade reaching 9.3 billion USD in 2015 and investment reaching nearly 38 billion USD as of June 2016.

After 20 years of operation in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) has become a symbol of effective economic cooperation between the two countries, while demonstrating the investment commitment and trust of Singaporean investors in the stability and economic development of Vietnam.
