Singapore's Health Minister said the theft of health information of the Prime Minister and 1.5 million people was on an unprecedented scale.

"I deeply apologize that this happened. We must learn from this and become stronger and more resilient after this incident," Channel News AsiaMinister Gan Kim Yong said yesterday, adding that the attack was "unprecedented".

At a press conference, Communications and Information Minister S Iswaran also firmly pursued the cyber attack. "I want to assure everyone that the government takes its responsibility of ensuring the security of the public sector's information technology database systems very seriously."

Hackers illegally accessed and copied the personal data of about 1.5 million patients who visited hospitals and clinics between May 2015 and July 4 this year, according to Reuters. The hackers specifically targeted Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's personal information and his outpatient medications.
