Prime Minister announces special good news to overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic

Within the framework of his official visit to the Czech Republic, on the evening of January 19 local time, in Prague, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the Homeland Spring 2025 Program and wished the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic a Happy New Year.

The program is organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic in coordination with the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic.

At the program, Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang - Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe reported to the Prime Minister on the Union's activities in 2024.

Mr. Thang emphasized that although the community faces many difficulties, the Union of Associations, through its member associations, has always strived to overcome difficulties, increasingly affirming its role as a bridge to promote friendly cooperation between European countries and Vietnam, while at the same time having many activities to support the community and turn towards the homeland and country.

Mr. Thang expressed his hope that the Union of Associations will continue to be facilitated to participate and contribute more actively to the development of economy - trade - investment, science - technology, green economy, circular economy, digital transformation to contribute to the construction and development of Vietnam.

Mr. Tran Van Dang - Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic reported to the Prime Minister on the community situation and activities of the Union in 2024; emphasizing that with the support of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, the community was able to participate in many meaningful activities, connecting with their roots.

In addition, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic has always been a pioneer in activities towards the homeland and the country. With these achievements, the Association was awarded the First Class Labor Medal on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its establishment.

The community hopes that the Party and State will pay attention to the earnest desire of overseas Vietnamese to regain Vietnamese nationality and continue to have forms of rewards and encouragement for overseas Vietnamese and associations.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that this was the first time the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had the opportunity to welcome the Prime Minister, his wife and a high-ranking delegation to attend the Homeland Spring Program and wish the community a Happy New Year. The Ambassador reported to the Prime Minister on the results of the Vietnam-Czech bilateral relationship in 2024; stating that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic has made significant contributions to these achievements.

In the atmosphere of reunion, the Prime Minister kindly asked about the community's situation; expressed pride in the community's persistent efforts in affirming its position in the host society; was pleased and appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and associations in developing the local economy and society, being a solid bridge in the Vietnam - Czech relationship and having many activities towards the homeland.

The Prime Minister informed the people about the domestic situation; said that overcoming difficulties, Vietnam has achieved very important achievements in all fields, completing 15/15 socio-economic development targets, of which 12 targets exceeded the set plan. GDP growth in 2024 reached 7.09%, GDP scale reached 476 billion USD, belonging to the group of 35 largest economies in the world. Vietnam continues to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major balances.

Regarding foreign affairs, consistently implementing an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries around the world, has strategic partnerships, comprehensive partnerships and comprehensive strategic partnerships with 32 countries, including all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and is an active member of over 70 regional and international organizations. Sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and defense are guaranteed; defense potential is enhanced. Among the country's achievements, there is a significant contribution from the overseas Vietnamese community - "an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community".

The Prime Minister said that 2025 is a year with many major national holidays, the year of Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress; at the same time, the whole country will strive to fulfill the set socio-economic development goals. The Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic in particular and the Vietnamese community in Europe in general, will always accompany the country, contributing to realizing the country's development goals until 2030 and 2045.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister was pleased to inform the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has decided to choose Prague as the host of the first National Unity Day abroad; expressing recognition and appreciation for the achievements and contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

Previously, on the evening of January 18 (local time), during a meeting with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, overseas Vietnamese raised a petition and the Prime Minister said he would immediately discuss with the Vietnam Fatherland Front about the content related to organizing the National Great Unity Day abroad.

The Prime Minister hopes that the people will strictly abide by local laws, always unite, help and support each other, promote the spirit of "mutual love", "national love, compatriotism", especially in difficult and unfortunate circumstances. The Prime Minister believes that the people will continue to deeply integrate, affirming their role and position in the local society; emphasizing that the community is one of the 14 ethnic minorities in the locality, but not a minority in quality and quantity, always proud and worthy of being children of Lac and grandchildren of Hong.

Joining in the lively spring songs performed by overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic and domestic artists, the Prime Minister and his wife raised their glasses and sent their best New Year wishes to the entire Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic./.
