The Prime Minister announced special good news for Vietnamese expatriates in the Czech Republic.

During his official visit to the Czech Republic, on the evening of January 19th (local time) in Prague, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation attended the "Homeland Spring 2025" program and extended New Year greetings to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

The program was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic in collaboration with the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic.

At the program, Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang, President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe, reported to the Prime Minister on the Union's activities in 2024.

Mr. Thang emphasized that although the community faces many difficulties, the Union of Associations, through its member associations, always strives to overcome challenges, increasingly affirming its role as a bridge promoting friendly cooperation between European countries and Vietnam, while also carrying out many activities to support the community and contribute to the homeland.

Mr. Thang expressed his hope that the Union of Associations would continue to be given favorable conditions to participate and contribute even more actively to the development of economy, trade, investment, science and technology, green economy, circular economy, and digital transformation, thereby contributing to the building and development of Vietnam.

Mr. Tran Van Dang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, reported to the Prime Minister on the community's situation and the Union's activities in 2024; emphasizing that with the support of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, the community has been able to participate in many meaningful activities, connecting with their roots.

Furthermore, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic has always been a pioneer in activities focused on their homeland. For these achievements, the Union of Associations was awarded the First Class Labor Medal on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.

The community hopes that the Party and the State will pay attention to the heartfelt aspirations of overseas Vietnamese to regain Vietnamese citizenship and continue to provide forms of recognition and encouragement to overseas Vietnamese and their associations.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Duong Hoai Nam, emphasized that this was the first time the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had the honor of welcoming the Prime Minister, his wife, and a high-level delegation to the Spring Homeland Program and extend New Year greetings to the community. The Ambassador reported to the Prime Minister on the results of bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in 2024, noting that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had made a significant contribution to these achievements.

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Prime Minister cordially inquired about the community's situation; expressed pride in the community's persistent efforts in asserting its position in the host society; and happily and highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and its associations to the socio-economic development of the host country, serving as a strong bridge in the Vietnam-Czech Republic relationship and engaging in many activities directed towards their homeland.

The Prime Minister informed the people about the domestic situation; stating that, overcoming difficulties, Vietnam has achieved very important accomplishments in all fields, completing 15 out of 15 socio-economic development targets, with 12 targets exceeding the set plan. GDP growth in 2024 reached 7.09%, the GDP size reached 476 billion USD, placing Vietnam among the top 35 largest economies in the world. Vietnam continues to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major balances.

In terms of foreign relations, consistently pursuing an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries worldwide, and has strategic partnerships, comprehensive partnerships, and comprehensive strategic partnerships with 32 countries, including all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and is an active member of over 70 regional and international organizations. Sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and national defense are ensured; national defense capabilities are strengthened. Among the country's achievements, the overseas Vietnamese community has made a significant contribution – "an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation."

The Prime Minister stated that 2025 is a year with many important national holidays, a year of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; and at the same time, the whole country will strive to achieve the set socio-economic development goals. The Prime Minister hoped that the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic in particular and the Vietnamese community in Europe in general, would always stand alongside the country, contributing to the realization of the country's development goals by 2030 and 2045.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister was pleased to announce to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front had decided to choose Prague as the host city for the first National Unity Day abroad; demonstrating recognition and high appreciation for the achievements and contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

Earlier, on the evening of January 18th (local time), during a meeting with embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, overseas Vietnamese raised a proposal, and the Prime Minister stated that he would immediately discuss the matter with the Vietnam Fatherland Front regarding the organization of the National Unity Day abroad.

The Prime Minister urged the community to abide by local laws, always remain united, help and support each other, and uphold the spirit of "mutual assistance and compassion," "national solidarity and brotherhood," especially in times of difficulty and hardship. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the community would continue to integrate deeply, affirming their role and position in the local society; emphasizing that while the community is one of the 14 ethnic minorities in the locality, it is not minority in terms of quality or quantity, and that they are always proud and worthy descendants of Lac and Hong.

Joining in the joyful spring songs performed by Vietnamese expatriates in the Czech Republic and local artists, the Prime Minister and his wife raised their glasses and extended their best New Year wishes to the entire Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
