Hiring lookouts and organizing gambling on the Red River.
On February 19th, the Hanoi City Police announced the successful dismantling of a gambling ring operating on the Red River, arresting 14 individuals. The Criminal Investigation Department of the Hanoi City Police is continuing its investigation and will prosecute the suspects according to regulations.
Previously, through intelligence gathering in the area, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police discovered a group of individuals organizing and participating in gambling activities, specifically dice games, on the Red River in Bat Trang commune, Hanoi City.
On February 12th, in the Bat Trang area, the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police inspected and arrested 14 individuals for organizing and participating in gambling, seizing nearly 100 million VND, 2 boats, 4 cars, and numerous related mobile phones. Initial investigations revealed that the suspects exploited the complex riverine terrain, the lack of attention at night, and chose a location on the border between Hanoi City and Hung Yen province to commit their crimes.
To participate in gambling, gamblers must be introduced by acquaintances of the organizers. Every day, the participants gather at the Xuan Quan gas station in Phung Cong commune, Hung Yen province, where lookouts wait to escort them to small boats anchored on the banks of the Bac Hung Hai river. From there, they transfer to larger boats to drift or anchor on the Red River in Bat Trang commune, Hanoi.
