Believing that the conflicts in her life were all created by her "temporary" husband's brother, Lan decided to hire a killer to intimidate him.

During 2 days (July 24-25), Bac Giang Court brought Nguyen Thi Lan (born in 1970, residing in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) and Vi Thi Hien (born in 1969, from Lang Son) to trial for murder.

The first instance verdict stated that Lan had a husband but was divorced. In 2009, Lan moved in with Hoang Van Duc (born in 1965, from Lang Son) but they were not married. Duc was in a similar situation as he was divorced and had two children.

During their lives together, many conflicts arose between Lan and Hoang Van Phuc (born in 1962, Duc's brother).

According to her testimony, in addition to being scolded and incited by Mr. Phuc to beat her, Lan was also not allowed to have her name on the red book of the land she was living on (the land was in the name of Mr. Duc's stepchild).

From the above conflicts, Lan planned to punish her husband. Lan asked Vi Thi Hien - the maid in the family to find someone to beat Phuc.

After being introduced by a relative, on January 25, 2015, Hien called Duong Van Tiep (born in 1991, from Lang Son) to hire him to beat Phuc as a warning. Tiep agreed and offered 10 million VND.

At about 5:00 p.m. the same day, Hien went to Met town (Huu Lung, Lang Son) and gave 5 million in advance, and Phuc's photo for Tiep to identify.

According to the plan on the morning of January 26, 2015, Tiep and Trieu Van Quan (born in 1990, from Lang Son) rented a car from Mr. Phuc to take them to Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province for 500,000 VND.

Mr. Phuc drove a Suzuki car carrying two subjects to an area in Tan Thinh commune, Lang Giang district, when Tiep and Quan used sharp objects to stab him multiple times until he died.

At 12 noon that same day, Tiep called to inform Hien that he had beaten Phuc but had done it too hard. He demanded that, in addition to the remaining 5 million, Hien had to pay another 3 million for travel expenses to escape.

That same afternoon, people discovered Phuc’s body and reported it to the authorities. On January 31, 2015, Lan and Hien turned themselves in to the police. As for Tiep and Quan, the investigation agency issued a wanted notice.

The panel of judges held that Lan and Hien's actions caused Phuc's death, so they must be held responsible for the crime of murder with the circumstance of "hiring a murder".

Therefore, the panel of judges decided to sentence Lan to 15 years in prison and Hien to 12 years in prison. This is the 6th time that the Bac Giang Court has opened a trial for this case./.
