On the morning of July 12th, Lindsey Graham's communications director officially announced on social media platform X the passing of the Senator representing South Carolina.

"On Saturday evening, July 11th, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away following a sudden and severe illness. His family appreciates everyone's prayers and wishes for privacy during this incredibly difficult time," the statement said.

Lindsey Graham was a veteran and highly influential Republican politician in the U.S. Senate.

Throughout his political career, he was once a vocal critic of Donald Trump, but later changed his stance and became one of the President's most loyal and important allies on Capitol Hill.

Graham's departure comes at a time when he is running for a fifth term in the Senate, where he was first elected in 2002 and holds some of the most powerful positions.

As head of the Senate Budget Committee, Graham played a central role in President Trump's second term, helping Republicans push through key legislation in the budget process without fear of obstruction from Democrats.

Previously, as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, he was a key figure in the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court in 2020.
