Police in Vinh City reward two suspects for stealing over 6 billion VND.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 24th, the Provincial Police Department held an awards ceremony for the Vinh City Police Department for successfully cracking case 172K, arresting two suspects for theft of property worth over 6 billion VND.

Earlier on February 17th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, residing in Yen Binh hamlet, Hung Dong commune, reported to the Vinh City Police. At 7:50 PM on February 15th, the Tuan Thuy sleeper bus (owned by Ms. Yen) was operating on the Vinh - Hanoi route. When the bus arrived at gas station No. 24, Le Ninh Street, Quan Bau ward (Vinh City), it received a package from Ms. Pham Thi Mien, residing in Block 2, Hong Son ward, Vinh City, to be delivered to someone in Hanoi.
Ms. Yen personally received the package and gave it to the bus assistant to store in the storage compartment of the bus. On the morning of February 16th, when the bus arrived at Nuoc Ngam bus station (Hanoi), the package was discovered missing. According to Ms. Yen, Ms. Mien stated that the package contained foreign currency worth 6.1 billion VND, including: 220,000 USD, 600,000 Thai Baht; 921,000 Japanese Yen; and 669,300 Taiwanese Dollars.
After receiving the report, the Vinh City Police verified and investigated the case. On February 18th, they arrested two suspects: Cao Ngoc Duong (born in 1989, residing in Vinh Tan Ward, Vinh City) and Nguyen Thanh Binh (born in 1984, residing in Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City). During a search of the suspects' homes, the police seized the aforementioned sum of money.

At the police station, Duong and Binh admitted that on the night of February 15th, they were sitting on a seat near the metal box where the bus company usually stores its belongings, and that's why they stole the package.
Following this achievement, the Provincial Police leadership presented flowers and awards to the special task force of Vinh City Police. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing and being expanded.
