General Luong Tam Quang holds the position of Minister of Public Security.
General Luong Tam Quang, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Deputy Minister of Public Security, has been approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.
On June 6th, the National Assembly carried out the procedure to approve the appointment of the Minister of Public Security.
General Luong Tam Quang, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Deputy Minister of Public Security, is the candidate recommended by the Prime Minister to the National Assembly for approval to be appointed as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.
The approval of this appointment is carried out by National Assembly deputies through a secret ballot.
After completing the prescribed steps, the National Assembly discussed and voted to approve the Resolution ratifying the appointment of Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Minister of Public Security - to the position of Minister of Public Security for the term 2021-2026.
The voting results for the Resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of the Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term showed that 468 out of 469 participating delegates voted in favor (96.10% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), with 1 delegate voting against (0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Previously, on May 22nd, the National Assembly elected General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, as President and passed a resolution approving his dismissal from the position of Minister of Public Security.
On the same day, the Prime Minister assigned Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security, to oversee the operations of the Ministry of Public Security until the competent authority appoints a new Minister of Public Security in accordance with regulations.
On June 3rd, the Central Party Office announced the Politburo's decision to transfer and assign Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, to the position of Chief of the Central Party Office.
Thus, the Ministry of Public Security currently has five leaders, including Minister Luong Tam Quang and four Deputy Ministers: General Tran Quoc To; Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung; Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen; and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long.
General Luong Tam Quang was born in 1965; his hometown is Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; he holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and Security.
He was a member of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security; Deputy Minister of Public Security; and Head of the Security Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security.
During his career, Mr. Luong Tam Quang held many positions in the security field, including serving as an assistant to the Deputy Minister of Public Security.
In 2012, he served as Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security with the rank of Colonel and was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2014.
In September 2017, he was appointed Chief of Staff and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in January 2019.
On August 15, 2019, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security and concurrently Head of the Security Investigation Agency a year later.
He was promoted to the rank of General in January 2022.
