An army lieutenant uses Facebook to find the owner of a lost item to return it to.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 16th, Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Long returned all the property he found to the person who lost it.

Earlier, on the morning of July 16th, while taking his child to school on National Highway 46, when passing by the Military Command of Nam Dan District (Nghe An), Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Long, a 15W radio operator of Company 9 - Battalion 13 - Brigade 80 - Military Region 4, accidentally found a wallet.

Upon searching the contents, Lieutenant Long found over 5,000,000 VND, a Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro phone, and some personal documents bearing the names Nguyen Anh Tuan and Phan Thi Hue, but without phone numbers.

Upon arriving home, Long and his wife intended to call the owner of the wallet, but because their phone was password-protected, they accessed their personal Facebook page to post a notice seeking the owner. Their post received hundreds of likes, comments, and shares.

A short while later, someone called Ms. Hue's phone. The caller was a close friend of the owner of the wallet and phone. Through this person, Mr. and Mrs. Long were able to contact Ms. Phan Thi Hue, the owner of the lost items.

Later that afternoon, the owner of the wallet came to Long's house to retrieve all their belongings. Upon receiving their property back, Mr. Tuan and Mrs. Hue were deeply moved and offered to give him some money as a "thank you," but Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Long firmly refused. "This is a perfectly normal thing to do, especially for soldiers like us," Lieutenant Long shared.

It is known that Ms. Hue and her husband are in difficult circumstances, their family is involved in agriculture, and they have permanent residence in Quynh Thach commune, Quynh Luu district. Ms. Hue also stated that she dropped the aforementioned property while on her way back to her maternal hometown in Thanh Chuong district to visit her sick father. The family of Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Long is in a similar situation; the husband is a 15W communications officer, the wife is a teacher at Lien Co Kindergarten in Nam Dan district, and their elderly mother is ill.
