The committee will investigate whether the former U.S. Secretary of State attempted to arrange for the closure of a criminal corruption case against businessman Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.
According to the newspaper, Clinton is accused of pressuring the Prime Minister and his son to end the investigation.
Muhammad Yunus is one of the donors of the Clinton Foundation and a close friend of the Clinton family.
Senator Grassley has requested that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson provide the Committee with all relevant documents within two weeks.
This is the first investigation against Hillary Clinton since the presidential election in November 2016. In addition, the Senate is also investigating whether the former Secretary of State exchanged official correspondence via personal email.
