(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Ta Huu Hung - Deputy Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant said: At 8:00 AM this morning (August 31), the water level in Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir was 200m, the inflow into the reservoir was 3844m3/s, and the outflow through the dam was 3844m3/s, the highest in history.

With the above discharge volume, compared to 7:00 AM on August 30th, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has increased the discharge volume through the reservoir by 1,844 m³.3/s (released 2,000m on the morning of August 30)3/s). This is the highest discharge level ever recorded at the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, and it could potentially be even higher.

On August 18, 2018, a devastating flood hit the districts of Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, and others. The Ban Ve hydroelectric plant also recently released water at a level of 2460 m.3/S.

Last night, residents of Tuong Duong had to flee the floods all night, and National Highway 7 was submerged.

Mr. Ta Huu Hung, Deputy Director of Ban Ve Hydropower Company, added: The water level in the upper reaches of the Nam Non River is likely to rise again. The maximum flow rate is likely to reach 4,500m. 3/s, average flow rate at 4000m3/S.

The release of water from the Ban Ve hydropower plant caused the Ca River to rise very rapidly. Mr. Le Huu Huan, Deputy Head of the Forecasting Department of the North Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station, said: The flood water level at the Thach Giam Hydrological Station on the Ca River reached 71.50 meters at 1:00 AM on August 31st.

This water level has exceeded the historical flood level by 2.60m (the historical level measured at Thach Giam station was 68.90m in August 2005), and the water is still rising.

Forecast for the next 3-6 hours: Water levels at Thach Giam Hydrological Station will peak and fluctuate at high levels; the peak flood water level is likely to reach 71.75m and remain at that level for an extended period.

The North Central Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts the risk of landslides and flooding in Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, and Anh Son districts (Nghe An province); Risk level due to landslides and flooding: Level 2.
