A sailor from Nghe An province recounts the moment his Taiwanese fishing vessel was hit by a missile.

(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnamese crew member involved in the incident where a Taiwanese fishing boat was hit by a naval missile is Bui Trong Van, born in 1972, from Nghe An province. After recovering from his injuries, Mr. Van was so frightened that he wanted to change professions and work on land once he fully recovered.

On July 1st, a patrol boat based at a naval base in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, mistakenly fired a missile at a fishing vessel near the Penghu Islands in the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwanese captain was killed, and three crew members from Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines were injured. The Vietnamese crew member, Bui Trong Van, born in 1972 and from Nghe An province, recounted the moment the missile pierced the boat to a BBC reporter.
