The IAF stated that both pilots activated their ejection seats to escape the malfunctioning aircraft, but one died after landing directly on the crash site, while the other parachuted to safety. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
The Mirage 2000 is a multirole fighter jet developed and manufactured by the French company Dassault Aviation. Designed in the late 1970s, it is considered one of France's most successful combat aircraft. Approximately 600 Mirage 2000s are currently in service with the air forces of nine countries worldwide.
Despite possessing many modern aircraft, the Indian Air Force frequently experiences fatal accidents due to poor maintenance standards for its weapons and equipment.
