Under the name Nguyen Tai Loc, the Brazilian-born striker officially became a Vietnamese citizen, promising to bring a turning point to coach Kim Sang-sik's attack at the ASEAN Cup 2026.

The door to the Vietnamese national team is wider open than ever for striker Geovane Magno. After a long period of completing legal procedures, the veteran Brazilian striker has officially become a Vietnamese citizen. This is seen as a strategic move to add quality personnel to the attack of the "Golden Star Warriors" ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2026 campaign.

According to information from his managing unit, Ninh Binh Club, Geovane Magno's citizenship ceremony is expected to be held solemnly right after the April 30th - May 1st holiday. With his new name, Nguyen Tai Loc, the player born in 1994 is expected to become a versatile player in coach Kim Sang-sik's tactical scheme.

A technical piece for coach Kim Sang-sik's playing style.

Geovane Magno has long established himself as one of the top foreign players in the V.League. His outstanding strengths lie in his skillful left foot, impressive aerial ability, and versatility in occupying space. Not only a true center forward, Nguyen Tai Loc can also play on the wing or drop deep as an attacking midfielder, helping to connect the lines seamlessly.

Tài Lộc's modern footballing mindset and diverse finishing skills are exactly the qualities the Vietnamese national team's attack is looking for. In a context where regional rivals are increasingly focusing on high-pressing play, a player capable of maneuvering in tight spaces and creating breakthroughs like him would be an effective solution to break down solid defenses.

Sharing his thoughts on the prospects of this new player's contribution, a leader of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) affirmed: "Once the naturalization process is completed, Geovane Magno will be fully eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team if he receives the trust and call-up from coach Kim Sang-sik."

Expectations for a "super-powerful" attacking line-up at the ASEAN Cup 2026.

The emergence of Nguyen Tai Loc, along with established names like Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson) and Do Hoang Hen (Hendrio), is painting a promising picture for Vietnamese football. Previously, midfielder Do Hoang Hen made an impressive debut in the resounding victory against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, proving that naturalized players can quickly integrate into a team's overall philosophy.

The VFF's primary objective for the coaching staff is to successfully defend the ASEAN Cup 2026 title. Having players with superior physique and technique like Tài Lộc not only increases the team's attacking power but also provides the Vietnamese national team with more options to approach the opponent's goal, preparing them to face significant challenges from Thailand or Indonesia in the future.
