(Baonghean.vn)- Many opinions say that Vietnam has great opportunities with the 4.0 industrial revolution. However, Dr. Nguyen Si Dung believes that we should not be too optimistic.

Basic understanding of the 4.0 industrial revolution

To say the general definition of the 4.0 industrial revolution, many people have said, and in general it is difficult to imagine. But it will be easier to imagine what the 4.0 revolution actually includes, what fields and what content. Specifically, the 4.0 industrial revolution includes the following contents:

Tiến sỹ Nguyễn Sỹ Dũng - Nguyên Phó Chủ nhiệm Văn phòng Chính Phủ.
Dr. Nguyen Sy Dung - Former Deputy Head of the Office of the National Assembly.

Firstt is the Internet of things, that is, connecting to all things and managing products, services, relationships, handling relationships, handling transactions through the ability to connect to the Internet. For example, with just a watch, a phone, you can connect to your home, to your bank, connect to your doctor, remind you of high blood pressure and instruct you what medicine to take, monitor how your child is doing at school, let you know if the electricity at your home is off or not, when you want to water the vegetables in the garden...

All of that connects together and provides services based on that. For example, there are businesses that make a list of good cooks, and a list of people who like good food, and then let them connect with each other. So people who want to cook their food well will be able to cook, people who want to eat their food will be able to eat, people who need income will have income.

Mondayis the use of big databases, databases will help you do everything. For example, Uber has a big database of who drives, who needs, and uses connection technology. Now the biggest car company in the world is the company that doesn't have any cars, but has the biggest data and data mining. The database will tell you with this market, how much production is enough, too much is excess, will orient everything and therefore will do good business. In many countries, database exploitation is done well and data mining is a huge economic sector.

Tuesdayis 3D printing technology. It is a technology that changes the world. Now from sewing clothes, to building houses, making artificial ears for people, making airplanes… everything can be done with 3D printing technology.

Wednesdayis artificial intelligence. Now many banks use artificial intelligence to replace many human labor activities, especially in Japan. Artificial intelligence can replace humans in many stages, from ticket sales, financial analysis, input and output control, reporting... Artificial intelligence can work 24/7, always with the same quality, work at any time, any amount of time.

One more areais robotization or cyborgization. Humans work 8 hours, sometimes awake and sometimes not, but robots work 24 hours but at no time is different. How can human precision and productivity be equal to robots? People say 60% of the world's robots are made by China, they are getting cheaper and cheaper, and are being sold to the world in droves. It is predicted that by the time in Vietnam, 70% of the labor in leather shoes will be done by robots, so is there any way to prevent Vietnamese businesses from buying Chinese robots to use Vietnamese workers. And is it necessary to prevent them from buying, because the simple and easy to understand argument is that if the world can buy, why can't we buy? No one can stop it.

Then self-assimilation. For example, self-driving cars, some places have already applied. For example, the Japanese use self-driving cars to take employees to work. There have been specific experiments showing that in some cases, self-driving cars have 10 times fewer accidents than human drivers. Self-driving cars are also connected to GPS to know everything that happens in the near and far space everywhere.

The above mentioned fields are the spearheads of the 4th industrial revolution, those fields create breakthroughs in product manufacturing, in the way of organizing production. For example, in the past, due to the use of human labor, people, there had to be a human resources department, a union, but in the 4.0 industrial revolution, it will be different because it is basically automated. Obviously, the 4.0 revolution is bringing huge changes to today's world.

Should we be optimistic when Vietnam has great opportunities?

There are currently many opinions that the 4.0 technology revolution is a good opportunity for developing countries, including Vietnam. This is not difficult to understand, but it should be avoided in a simple way. Saying that Vietnam or developing countries have opportunities means that when changing the standard system, everything will return to zero, all will return to the original starting point. That is, whether developed or developing, the country must return to the original starting point. This means that the advantage and gap will no longer be significant, because all countries will return to the original starting point in the 4.0 technology revolution.

Vietnam has an opportunity because Vietnam has a very developed information infrastructure. If we connect all things via the Internet, infrastructure is very important. Our country is not inferior to any other country in terms of infrastructure. Viettel military telecommunications network has 4G coverage nationwide. All the added value in technology is available, we have the foundation. That is the opportunity.

Another opportunity is that Vietnamese people have strengths that have been affirmed. Vietnamese people's mathematics, creativity, and aesthetic ability have all been affirmed in the world. In terms of designing beautiful products, Vietnamese people may not be sophisticated, but there are many areas where Japanese and Chinese people are not sure to be better. And when it comes to aesthetic design, robots cannot do it.

However, the 4.0 industrial revolution also puts Vietnam in front of many challenges, even very big challenges. That is, in the fields of the 4.0 industrial revolution as mentioned above, which fields will Vietnamese people approach and enter, and how, this is really unclear until now. Vietnamese people must answer for themselves, who else?

Besides, the employment problem is a very big problem. Currently, there are figures that 200 thousand (some figures say 300 thousand) Vietnamese university graduates are unemployed. If they want to get a job, they have to hide their university degree, get a secondary or high school diploma to apply for a job. In the future, if robots replace more people, how difficult will the employment problem be? That is a big problem.

Next is the 4.0 industrial revolution, which requires a lot of intellectual capacity and creativity. But has the current way of learning in Vietnam, the current way of education and training met the requirements? When we still organize extra classes, learning to count, learning numbers, but not creative learning, how can we meet the requirements? So we should not only be happy and optimistic, but also clearly realize that the 4.0 industrial revolution opens up great opportunities but also brings great challenges.
