An 80-year-old doctor is dedicated to 'carrying the burden'.
(Baonghean.vn) - That's how the residents of Block 7, Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City (Nghe An province) describe Mr. Dinh Trong Xoan – the dedicated Party Secretary of the block.
Mr. Dinh Trong Xoan holds a doctorate and was formerly a management official. After retiring and enjoying a happy life with his children and grandchildren, he remains committed to being a role model in his words and actions, constantly striving to emulate President Ho Chi Minh's example, and leading the way in community and ward movements.
At 80 years old, he still often wears his glasses and painstakingly uses a computer to stay updated on news and apply information technology to his work. He shared: "Nowadays, everything is much more modern, and I myself have to try to learn and absorb new things. Learning is a lifelong process; it never stops..."

At Party branch meetings, he always sought out suitable topics and proactively proposed solutions for collective discussion. As a result, the Party branch meetings of grade 7 were always highly regarded for their quality and organization.
Mr. Dinh Trong Xoan also played a significant role in mobilizing Party members and the people to support the expansion of roads and alleys. This was a long-held aspiration of generations of officials in the sector for decades, but it had not been realized due to the ever-increasing land prices, and the fact that donating land for road construction inevitably "clashed" with the personal interests of some individuals.
Understanding this, and guided by the motto "Party members lead the way, the people follow," Mr. Dinh Trong Xoan took the lead in donating over 4.6 square meters of land and voluntarily dismantling his family's fence, then rebuilding a 17-meter fence to ensure the alley is clear and the sidewalk is unobstructed.

He also persistently went door-to-door, persuading people to donate land for road construction. His dedication paid off; after more than a year, 26 households voluntarily donated land, moving their fences back, totaling 157 square meters. While this area may not be large compared to rural areas, in Vinh City, it represents significant value. He shared: “I determined that this work requires patience, not haste, and certainly not criticism or coercion. Instead, I relied on persuasion and enthusiasm to convince them. Only then could I maintain unity within the community and ensure people contributed with a positive mindset.”
| For his positive contributions, Mr. Dinh Trong Xoan was elected as an outstanding Party member who completed his duties excellently for five consecutive years (2011-2015), and was commended by Vinh City for his efforts in studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh. |
