After hearing the report and opinions from the Department of Construction of Vinh City, the representative of the Department of Transport stated: "We need to change our way of thinking, decentralize more strongly; other countries do the same, and the city should be given autonomy to implement it."
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien highly appreciated Vinh City's efforts in resolving traffic congestion in the past period, such as building turn-offs at intersections, restricting trucks from entering the city, relocating the bus station to the outskirts... however, parking spaces in front of public places and busy offices are still lacking.
The city is now piloting a project to excavate sidewalks to reduce traffic congestion, and is also preparing for the 230th anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do and the 10th anniversary of its status as a Class 1 city. We request that all relevant departments support the city in continuing to implement this project.
Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien also noted that the city needs to learn from experience regarding the implementation process to ensure compliance with the law, detailed design, the addition of signage, and strict, effective, and economical management. The parking bay on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street needs further refinement and improvement, drawing on lessons learned from previous projects to enhance its appearance. The city will study the possibility of constructing more parking bays in the future, ensuring sidewalks are available for pedestrians and maintaining an aesthetic level befitting a first-class city.
The project to renovate several sections of sidewalks on Le Mao, Ho Tung Mau, Le Hong Phong, and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai streets to create parking areas is being implemented by the Vinh City People's Committee as the investor. The total investment for the construction project is 13,719,777,000 VND. The funding source is the Vinh City budget.
