Vinh Urban Sub-project - the journey to completion
(Baonghean) - With great effort, Nghe An province has issued Decision No. 4522/QD.UBND-CN approving the Project for the Development of Medium-Sized Cities in Vietnam - Vinh City Sub-Project, implemented with loan capital from the World Bank (WB) and counterpart funds.
The project opens up tremendous prospects for upgrading and renovating Vinh's urban infrastructure, contributing to gradually building the city into an economic and cultural center of the North Central region.
The Vinh Urban Sub-Project comprises four components: Component 1: Improving services and upgrading basic infrastructure; Component 2: Improving environmental sanitation, including: Upgrading and renovating the North Canal, constructing a regulating lake; upgrading and renovating the moat surrounding Vinh Ancient Citadel, upgrading and renovating the Cua Nam Lake; Component 3: Urban roads and bridges; and Component 4: Capacity building and technical support.
By the end of 2017, many packages had been completed, including: Construction of the resettlement area in Hamlet 5, Nghi Phu commune; School sanitation improvement; Upgrading and renovating the North Canal, section 1; Upgrading and renovating the North Canal, sections 2 and 3; Upgrading and renovating ditch No. 3; Upgrading the main pumping station and a new pumping station with a capacity of 10,500 m3/day and the gravity-fed ditch leading to the main pumping station... Several remaining packages are being actively constructed to ensure early completion as committed.
