The last two victims of the quarry collapse have been found.

By 5 PM on January 23rd, the last victim of the quarry collapse in Yen Lam commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, had been found.

Thus, after more than a day and night of intensive searching with over 200 people participating and digging through thousands of cubic meters of rock, the authorities have found all eight victims.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:00 AM on January 22nd at the stone quarry of Tuan Hung Private Enterprise in Dong Son village, Yen Lam commune, resulting in 7 deaths and 1 seriously injured person.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Quyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, directly supervised the search and rescue efforts for the victims. The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and the Fire and Rescue Police Department dispatched hundreds of officers to the scene to coordinate the search, and also conducted an examination, investigation, and clarification of the cause of the incident.

On January 23, the Prime Minister issued a directive instructing the search and rescue efforts following the quarry collapse in Yen Dinh.

The Prime Minister requested the National Search and Rescue Committee and the Ministries of National Defence, Construction, and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, based on their assigned functions and duties, to coordinate with the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to continue directing relevant agencies to effectively implement search and rescue operations and mitigate the consequences of the accident in accordance with regulations.

The Prime Minister also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and requested that the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province focus on directing search and rescue efforts, mobilizing forces and resources to urgently search for those still buried; organize visits, provide encouragement and medical care to the injured; and provide support and organize proper funerals for those who died. With rising gasoline prices, people immediately think about increased travel and living costs.
