Bodies of Swiss couple who disappeared 75 years ago have been found.

The frozen bodies of a Swiss couple, who had been missing for 75 years, have been discovered in the Alps.

Swiss media reported the incident on July 18th, after the ice melted in the Alps. Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin were parents of seven children. They were milking cows in the Chandolin pasture on August 15th, 1942.

Their youngest daughter, Udry-Dumoulin, told Le Matin: “We have spent our whole lives searching for our parents, without stopping. We thought we would hold a funeral for them someday.”

Their youngest daughter, now 79 years old, added: "I can say that after 75 years of waiting, this news has brought me peace of mind."

Swiss police said the two bodies, which were carrying identity cards, were discovered last week by a worker on a mountain at an altitude of 2,615 meters.

Swiss authorities will conduct DNA testing to confirm the identities of the two individuals. Bernhard Tschannen, director of Glacier 3000, told reporters: “The two bodies were found close together. They were a man and a woman wearing clothing from World War II.”

He added: "Their bodies were preserved intact by the ice and snow, and their belongings were also untouched."

"We thought they might have fallen into the ravine. When the ice receded, their bodies were revealed," according to the Tribune de Geneve newspaper.

Seventy-five years ago, Marcelin Dumoulin, then 40, was a shoemaker, and Francine, 37, was a teacher. When they left, they left behind five sons and two daughters. Later, the children were separated and sent to live with different families.

Udry-Dumoulin's youngest daughter said: "For the funeral, I won't be wearing black. I think white would be more appropriate. It represents hope, which I never gave up on."
