A woman lost over 600 million VND searching for a job online.
Because she needed to find work online to earn money, a woman in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh province) suddenly became a victim, being scammed out of more than 600 million VND.
On February 19th, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced that they had received a criminal complaint from Ms. LPD (30 years old, residing in Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City) regarding being defrauded of over 600 million VND.
According to Ms. D's account, on February 14th, due to her need for employment, she used her Facebook account to post job advertisements on several fan pages.
Around noon that same day, Ms. D. received a call from the phone number 0776.506.666, claiming to be an employee from the human resources department of a bank, and scheduled an online interview for her at approximately 8 AM the following day.
On the morning of February 15th, this person called again and instructed Ms. D. to join a group on the Microsoft Teams application to conduct an interview.
After joining the group, Ms. D. received messages from several accounts within the group instructing her to perform money-related transaction tasks as a basis for recruitment, along with promises of commission. Subsequently, these individuals instructed Ms. D. to access the website “duanvcb.vietcombankhr.com” to register an account for work.
Trusting them, Ms. D. repeatedly transferred money to two bank accounts to carry out the task, totaling over 600 million VND.
On February 17th, Ms. D. was unsuccessful in withdrawing money to her personal account. She messaged the Microsoft Teams group to inquire and was instructed to deposit more money to legitimize the deposited funds before she could withdraw the money. Suspecting she had been scammed, Ms. D. reported the incident to the police.
