Ragasa storm update at 10:00 AM today, September 25, 2025: Ragasa storm is currently 40 km from Quang Ninh, with maximum wind speeds of level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusts up to level 9. Very heavy rain is expected in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.

Location and trajectory of Typhoon Ragasa

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, at 10:00 AM on September 25th, the center of Typhoon Ragasa was located at approximately 21.5 degrees North latitude and 108.4 degrees East longitude, about 40km east of Mong Cai (Quang Ninh). The strongest winds near the center of the typhoon reached level 7 (50-61 km/h), with gusts up to level 9. In the next 3 hours, the typhoon will move westward at a speed of about 15-20 km/h.

The impact of Typhoon Ragasa on the mainland.

Due to the impact of Typhoon Ragasa, stormy weather is occurring in the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin. Other areas such as the Paracel Islands, the Spratly Islands, the southern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, and along the coast from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau are experiencing scattered showers and thunderstorms.

During thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind (level 6-7), and waves over 2 meters high, posing a danger to ships operating offshore.

Natural disaster risk warning for the next 24 hours.

Throughout the day and night of September 25th, the northern part of the Gulf of Tonkin, including Bach Long Vy, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai, and Hon Dau, will experience strong winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8-9. Sea waves will reach 2-3 meters in height, causing rough seas in the area; however, winds are forecast to gradually decrease towards night.

In the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Can Tho and the central and southern parts of the East Sea (including the Spratly Islands), southwest winds will remain at level 6, gusting to levels 7-8, with waves 2-4m high.

Meanwhile, in the northern part of the South China Sea, southeasterly to easterly winds sometimes reach force 6, gusting to force 7-8, causing rough seas with waves 2-4 meters high.

On September 26th, the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern East Sea will continue to experience southwest winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8, with waves 2-4m high.

Specifically, from midday onwards, winds in the northeastern and eastern parts of the South China Sea will gradually strengthen to level 6-7, then increase to level 8-9, near the center of Typhoon Ragasa it may reach level 10-12, gusting to level 15, with waves 5-7m high, and extremely rough seas.

The risk level for natural disasters at sea is assessed at level 3 in the northern Gulf of Tonkin and level 2 in other areas. However, the impact from heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is forecast at level 1.

Heavy rain is forecast for the next 48 hours.

From the morning of September 25th to the night of September 26th, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall with amounts ranging from 100–200mm, and in some areas possibly exceeding 300mm. A warning has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm/3 hours, posing a potential risk of flash floods and inundation.

Additionally, in the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected on the evening of September 25th, with rainfall generally ranging from 15-30mm, and exceeding 70mm in some areas. Heavy rain may be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

Prolonged heavy rain can easily cause flooding in urban areas, industrial zones, and low-lying regions. In small rivers and streams, the risk of flash floods and landslides on slopes is very high.

From September 27th, heavy rain in Northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An is forecast to gradually decrease, but the impacts from Typhoon Ragasa still need to be closely monitored to minimize damage.
