LATEST NEWS ON TYPHOON NO. 5
This morning (August 26), the tropical depression (weakened from typhoon number 5) has moved further into central Laos.
At 7:00 AM, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 18.9 degrees North latitude and 103.9 degrees East longitude, over central Laos. The strongest winds near the center of the tropical depression were at level 6 (39-49 km/h), with gusts up to level 8; it was moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of about 20 km/h.
Forecast for the next 12 hours: The tropical depression will continue to move in a west-northwest direction, gradually weakening into a low-pressure area and dissipating.
Heavy rain is expected in the northern delta and midland areas, Son La, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An; strong winds and high waves in the Gulf of Tonkin will continue. It is necessary to closely monitor heavy rain forecasts and dangerous weather conditions at sea.
