Believing the man impersonating a police officer, a woman was scammed out of more than 100 million
Believing and following the man who claimed to be a police officer, Ms. L. installed fake public service software to synchronize population data for her child and scan facial recognition on her phone, only to be scammed out of more than 100 million VND.
On November 22, Hanoi City Police said that Ms. L. (44 years old in Dan Phuong district) lost more than 100 million VND when installing fake public service software.

Specifically, on November 17, Dan Phuong District Police received a complaint from Ms. L. (44 years old) about being scammed of more than 100 million VND.
Before that, Ms. L. received a phone call from a person impersonating a police officer, informing her that her son's name was not yet in the electronic household registration book. This person asked Ms. L. to install a fake public service software to synchronize data, then asked her to scan her face on the phone.
Taking advantage of Mrs. L.'s lack of vigilance, the subject took control of her phone, accessed her bank account and stole more than 100 million VND.
Hanoi Police advise people to be vigilant against this scam. People should absolutely not install software or applications at the request of strangers. When encountering cases showing signs of fraud, people should immediately report to the police.
