Trusting a man posing as a police officer, a woman was scammed out of over 100 million VND.
Trusting and following the instructions of someone claiming to be a police officer, Ms. L. installed fake public service software to synchronize her child's population data and perform facial recognition scanning on her phone, only to be scammed out of over 100 million VND.
On November 22nd, Hanoi City Police announced that Ms. L. (44 years old, residing in Dan Phuong district) lost over 100 million VND after installing a fake public service software.

Specifically, on November 17th, the Dan Phuong District Police received a report from Ms. L. (44 years old) regarding being scammed out of over 100 million VND.
Previously, Ms. L. received a phone call from someone impersonating a police officer, informing her that her son's name was not yet included in the electronic household registration book. This person requested Ms. L. to install a fake public service software to synchronize data, and then asked her to scan her face using facial recognition on her phone.
Taking advantage of Ms. L.'s momentary lapse of vigilance, the perpetrator seized control of her phone, accessed her bank account, and stole over 100 million VND.
Hanoi City Police are advising citizens to be vigilant against this type of scam. People should absolutely not install any software or applications at the request of strangers. If you encounter any suspicious cases of fraud, please report it immediately to the police.
