1. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pays official visits to Laos and Cambodia.

On April 24, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife departed for Cambodia, beginning a four-day official visit to Cambodia and Laos.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid an official visit to Cambodia on April 24 and 25 at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen before visiting Laos at the invitation of Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith from April 26 to 27.
This visit demonstrates Vietnam's commitment to the friendly and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the traditional friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, thereby creating momentum and contributing to elevating bilateral cooperation to a new level.
This is the Prime Minister's first official visit to Cambodia and Laos since taking office, coinciding with the 2017 Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.
2. Speaker of the Korean National Assembly pays official visit to Vietnam.

At the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Chung Sye-kyun, his wife, and a high-level delegation from the South Korean National Assembly will pay an official visit to Vietnam from April 24-26.
Over the years, the friendly relations and cooperation between the two Parliaments have been continuously strengthened and developed well on both bilateral and multilateral levels, actively contributing to promoting the Vietnam-Korea strategic partnership.

This is the announcement from the Central Inspection Commission, issued after its 14th session, held from April 24 to 26, 2017.
Mr. Dinh La Thang, member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVN Group, is held responsible as the head for the violations and shortcomings of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of PVN Group during the period 2009-2011.
Responsible for signing and issuing Resolution 233/NQ-ĐU, dated March 17, 2009, of the Group's Party Committee, which contained provisions inconsistent with legal regulations, leading the Board of Directors, the Group's General Directorate, and member corporations to illegally award numerous contracts.
4. Mr. Vo Kim Cu resigns from his position as a National Assembly representative.

After receiving disciplinary action and dismissal from his position from the Party Central Committee, Vo Kim Cu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, submitted a letter requesting to resign as a member of the 14th National Assembly.
On the morning of April 25th, a leader of the National Assembly Standing Committee's Delegate Affairs Committee stated that Mr. Vo Kim Cu (Chairman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance) had submitted a resignation letter from his position as a delegate in the 14th National Assembly.
"The representative resigned voluntarily, so the process will be different from being dismissed by the National Assembly. Currently, the relevant authorities are reviewing the resignation request, and the final decision must await the National Assembly," said the head of the Committee on Representative Affairs.
Earlier on the afternoon of April 22, National Assembly Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc stated that the Secretariat's decision to dismiss Vo Kim Cu showed that his shortcomings were serious and that he no longer had the credibility to serve as a National Assembly representative.
5. Female deputy director of department disciplined by Party for picking flowers.

On the afternoon of April 25th, the Party Committee of the Bloc of Provincial Agencies in Binh Thuan Province unanimously decided to impose disciplinary action against Ms. Pham Thi Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Justice.
Ms. Hieu was reprimanded for her actions of breaking cherry blossom branches, which caused a strong public reaction and affected her personal reputation, the Binh Thuan Department of Justice, and the image of the locality.
6. Devastating landslide in An Giang submerges 19 houses.

At 9:20 AM on April 22nd, a landslide occurred in the landslide-prone area of Hamlet 14, My Hoi Village, My Hoi Dong Commune, Cho Moi District (An Giang Province), spanning 70 meters and causing 19 houses to collapse into the Hau River.
The landslide encroached about 2 meters into the inter-communal road, cutting off the inter-communal road connecting My Hoi Dong and Nhon My (Cho Moi district), with estimated property damage of approximately 8.8 billion VND (including houses, property, and essential infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water, and telecommunications systems). Fortunately, there were no casualties.
7. Railway accident, 4 dead.

The accident occurred on the afternoon of April 24th at Km 1102+200 in the Dieu Tri - Tan Vinh section of the Thong Nhat railway line (in Phuoc Thanh commune, Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province).
Specifically, at 13:46 on April 24th, passenger train TN1, pulled by locomotive 967, collided with a 7-seater car with license plate 78A-036.52 at Km 1102+200 (a level crossing protected by automatic warning signals, with equipment functioning normally) in the Dieu Tri - Tan Vinh section of the Thong Nhat railway line (located in Phuoc Thanh commune, Tuy Hoa district, Binh Dinh province).
The incident resulted in four deaths (two at the scene and two at the hospital) and two injured victims. The injured victims were taken to Binh Dinh Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.
8. The retirement age may increase from 2021.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has issued the second draft of the revised Labour Law, seeking opinions from experts and the public from April 21 to June 21.
The retirement age is implemented according to two options. Option one is to maintain the current age of 60 for men and 55 for women. Option two is to increase the retirement age gradually, starting from January 1, 2021, by 6 months each year until men reach 62 and women reach 60.
Workers with reduced working capacity, those engaged in strenuous, hazardous, or dangerous work, or those in specialized occupations may retire earlier. Workers with high technical and professional qualifications, those in managerial positions, and certain other special cases may retire at an older age, but not more than 5 years earlier than the prescribed age.
