1. Prime Minister Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia visits Vietnam.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh welcomed Prime Minister Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Binh Duong.

On the afternoon of June 21st, at the Binh Duong Provincial Convention Center, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided over the welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen of the Royal Government of Cambodia and members of the high-level delegation from the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his comrades beginning their revolutionary path to save Cambodia from the Pol Pot genocidal regime.

Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Vietnam was particularly significant as it took place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2017) and the "Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017". The two Prime Ministers met and spoke with more than 1,000 delegates, including representatives of the government and people of Binh Duong province; many representatives of the younger generation, including Vietnamese students and 250 Cambodian students studying in Vietnam; and delegates who were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who had helped Cambodia defend and build the country.

2. Closing of the 3rd session of the 14th National Assembly

After a month of serious and responsible work, on the morning of June 21st, at the Dien Hong Hall, the 14th National Assembly concluded its 3rd session under the chairmanship of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

At this session, the National Assembly completed its work program with many important contents. With a spirit of innovation, unity, creativity, and action, the National Assembly deputies actively discussed, debated, and contributed many opinions in the legislative, supervisory, and decision-making processes on important national issues.

3. Awarding the 11th National Journalism Awards in 2016

On the evening of June 21st, the 11th National Journalism Awards Ceremony - 2016 was solemnly held at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace in Hanoi, with more than 95 outstanding journalistic works of 2016 receiving awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Tran Dai Quang emphasized that throughout more than 30 years of reform in general and in 2016 in particular, the country's press has made enormous and important contributions to the overall achievements of the nation.

The press has actively propagated, guided, and encouraged all strata of the people to implement the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws, especially effectively and extensively disseminating the Resolution of the 4th Plenum of the 12th Central Committee of the Party on strengthening Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling the decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, and the manifestations of self-evolution and self-transformation within the Party, in conjunction with the implementation of Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style.

4. Mr. Tran Thanh Man became Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

On the morning of June 22, the 7th Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 8th term, unanimously elected Mr. Tran Thanh Man (Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairman - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front) as Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 8th term, 2014-2019.

Mr. Tran Thanh Man assumed the position of Chairman of the Fatherland Front, replacing Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, after Mr. Nhan was assigned by the Politburo to serve as Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.

5.Former PVtex General Director Vu Dinh Duy has been prosecuted.

On June 20, the Investigation Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to initiate a criminal case for intentionally violating state regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences, at Petrochemical and Fiber Company (PVtex) and Kinh Bac Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC.KBC).

The investigating agency also issued a decision to prosecute 5 defendants and ordered the temporary detention of 4 defendants (one of whom had been arrested earlier), including: Mr. Tran Trung Chi Hieu - former Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVtex; Vu Dinh Duy - former General Director of PVtex; Vu Phuong Nam - Chief Accountant; Dao Ngo Hoang - former Head of the Commercial Contracts Department of PVtex; and Do Van Hong - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of PVC.KBC Company.

All five defendants have been charged with intentionally violating the law. The whereabouts of Vu Dinh Duy, however, are currently unknown.

6. Dismiss the Director of the Environmental Protection Activities Control Department.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has imposed administrative disciplinary action in the form of dismissal against Mr. Luong Duy Hanh, Director of the Department of Environmental Protection Activities Control (General Department of Environment), and transferred him to another unit.

7. High school graduation exams and university entrance exams in 2017

From June 22nd to 24th,Over 860,000 students nationwide participated in the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam.

The exam consists of 5 tests, including 3 independent tests: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language, and 2 combined tests: Natural Sciences (a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) and Social Sciences (a combination of History, Geography, and Civic Education for students studying the High School Education program; a combination of History and Geography for students studying the Continuing Education program at the high school level).

8. Fuel depot fire in Saigon.

At 10:35 PM on June 22nd, one of the warehouses belonging to Southern Logistics Joint Stock Company – SOTRANS, located near the intersection of Hoang Dieu and Nguyen Tat Thanh streets in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, suddenly caught fire and burned fiercely.

Inside the warehouse, a series of loud explosions occurred, and the fire spread rapidly, forcing local authorities to order hundreds of households to evacuate from the dangerous area.

According to Mr. Dang Vu Thanh, General Director of Southern Logistics Joint Stock Company - SOTRANS, this warehouse complex has 5 warehouses containing various types of goods. The fire originated in warehouse number 1 and then spread over an area of ​​more than 5,000 square meters.
