The Investigation Police Department of Hanoi City Police has just initiated a criminal case, indicted the suspects, and issued a temporary detention order against Le Thi Hanh (born in 1985), residing in Tay Ho commune, Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province, and Vu Tien Lam (born in 1983), residing in Phuong Lien ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi, to investigate the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Investigation documents show that from May to November 2024, Le Thi Hanh was a manager at GM supermarket, located on Luong The Vinh Street, Trung Van Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.
Hanh was assigned by Mr. Q, the supermarket owner, the task of compiling accounts receivable and providing the supermarket with the bank account numbers of suppliers for payment.
Taking advantage of Mr. Q's trust, instead of providing the suppliers' bank account numbers, Hanh gave the supermarket owner bank account numbers she had borrowed from acquaintances, even Grab motorbike taxi drivers...

When money was deposited into these accounts, Hanh transferred it to her own account to embezzle it. Preliminary statistics show that during her six months as a manager at GM supermarket, Hanh embezzled nearly 2 billion VND...
In addition, Hanh also "exaggerated" and built trust with the supermarket's suppliers so that they would confidently supply goods for her to sell.
When the goods arrived, Hanh would send her "boyfriend," Vu Tien Lam, a delivery driver, to deliver them. Customers would transfer money to Vu Tien Lam's account. Lam would then transfer the money to Hanh's account, but Hanh would not pay the suppliers for the goods; instead, she would embezzle the money.
