(Baonghean.vn) -Following Tay Hieu honey and Quang Tien pink pomelo, recently,Thai Hoa turmeric starch product has just been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology of the province, and its packaging is printed with a traceability label.

The Thai Hoa Starch Production and Processing Cooperative in Dong My hamlet, Dong Hieu commune (Thai Hoa town) is one of the leading establishments in attaching electronic traceability labels to the packaging of turmeric starch products.

With this label attached, consumers can check the origin of a product using only a smartphone. Information on the packaging such as the production facility, cultivation history, processing and packaging details, and expiration date are all fully displayed.

Ms. Tran Thi Nga, head of the Thai Hoa starch production and processing cooperative, said: “To qualify for labeling, we have to carefully manage and inspect the products from land preparation to planting. The products must be thoroughly cleaned before being used in production.”

To improve product quality and meet consumer demand, many producers have invested hundreds of millions of dong to install machinery and electric drying ovens.

Currently, in addition to the 20 hectares of turmeric grown by the cooperative members themselves, the households here have carefully surveyed and signed contracts to purchase raw materials from other localities within and outside the area for production.

Recently in Hanoi, Thai Hoa turmeric starch was recognized as one of the high-quality branded products of 2017, having been inspected and certified by the General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality.
