Streamlining staff in 2 years, more than 20,000 billion VND for GPMB of Long Thanh airport

Head of the Central Organizing Committee Pham Minh Chinh made this statement at the conference hall about separating the compensation, support, and resettlement content into component projects to implement the Long Thanh international airport project this afternoon.

Previously, many delegates were concerned about where the 23,000 billion VND for site clearance would come from and asked the Government to explain. In response, Head of the Central Organizing Committee Pham Minh Chinh said he agreed with the solution proposed by the Government.

According to him, there are two feasible and effective solutions. One is for the Government to study and submit to the National Assembly a special mechanism for land clearance and resettlement. The second is to save regular costs nationwide.

"After 2 years of implementing the Politburo's resolution, our payroll has not decreased but increased, regular expenditures have increased to a relative figure of 62.3% in 2015 and 65.7% in 2016. It is expected to be 64.9% in 2017, an absolute increase in 2016 compared to 2015 of over 50,000 billion, and in 2017 an increase of 114,000 billion compared to 2015.

"So in 2017 alone, if we save 1% of spending, we will have over 10,000 billion. In 2018, if we save 1% of spending, we will have over 10,000 billion. So we will have over 20,000 billion. To do that, we must reduce the number of units and staff in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 39 of the Politburo to be able to solve this problem," Mr. Pham Minh Chinh stated.

"We are struggling, but if we all reduce staff and reduce focal points according to the spirit of Resolution 39, we can solve this problem," the Head of the Central Organizing Committee emphasized once again.

Speaking later, Deputy Le Thanh Van (Ca Mau) also agreed with this opinion.
