Khammouane Province (Laos) extends New Year greetings to Nghe An Province.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 17th, a delegation from Khammouane province, led by Comrade Phomma Phanthalangsi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, paid a visit to and extended New Year greetings to Nghe An province.

Accompanying them were representatives from the Lao Fatherland Front for National Construction of Khammouane Province, the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Party Committee Office, and the Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs of Khammouane Province.

Welcoming the delegation, on the Nghe An province side were: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and representatives of the leadership of several provincial departments and agencies.

At the meeting, on behalf of the delegation, Comrade Phomma Phanthalangsi thanked Nghe An province for the warm and thoughtful reception and informed them of some outstanding achievements in various fields in Khammouane in recent times.

In 2016, Khammouane achieved success in many areas, with stable national defense and security, and relatively good socio-economic development, reaching a growth rate of 7.95%, and per capita income of US$1,922 per year. The province also implemented the resolutions of the 10th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Khammouane Provincial Party Congress.

Under the leadership and guidance of the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos, Nghe An and Khammouane have had many successful cooperation activities in recent years. Nghe An has been creating favorable conditions for Khammouane in many fields: human resource training, support for socio-economic development, and ensuring national defense and security…

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2017 (Year of the Rooster), the Deputy Secretary of the Khammouane Provincial Party Committee sent his best wishes to the Party Committee, government, and people of Nghe An province, wishing that the solidarity and friendship between the two Parties and two States in general, and between Nghe An and Khammouane provinces in particular, would forever flourish and endure.

Thanking the province for its affection towards Nghe An, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Xuan Son, shared his joy and said that Nghe An is celebrating Tet this year in a cheerful atmosphere.

Despite facing numerous difficulties in 2016, the province made every effort, achieving and exceeding 25 out of 27 socio-economic targets, with a growth rate of 7.5%, the highest in recent years. Budget revenue reached 11,005 billion VND/10,200 billion VND, and the poverty rate decreased to 9.5%. Nghe An continued to focus on caring for the poor during Tet (Lunar New Year), ensuring significant progress in culture and society, maintaining national defense and security, and continuing to maintain and develop cooperative and friendly relations with provinces of neighboring Laos.

On behalf of the 4th Military Region Command, Colonel Ha Tan Tien, Deputy Commander of the Military Region, expressed his emotion at the sentiments of the Party Committee, government, and people of Khammouane province, and emphasized the importance of the relationship with the Lao provinces bordering the Military Region's territory. He expressed confidence that in the coming time, Khammouane province will continue to achieve more successes in socio-economic development and national defense and security, laying a solid foundation for further strengthening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
