Nghe An Provincial Party Committee supports people affected by storm No. 3
On the morning of September 11, in Vinh city, Nghe An Provincial Party Committee organized a support event for people affected by storm No. 3.
Attending the program were comrades: Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Van Thong - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and leaders, cadres, experts of Party Committees, the Provincial Party Committee Office, and the Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee.
At the beginning of the ceremony, delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the officers and soldiers who died while performing rescue missions and the people who died due to the impact of storm No. 3 in recent days.
Storm No. 3, internationally named Yagi, is the strongest storm in the past 30 years in the East Sea and the past 70 years on the mainland of our country, making landfall directly in the Northern region; increasing in intensity irregularly; the storm's stay on land is long; the storm's area of influence is very wide.
The storm's circulation caused very heavy rain and floods; some places exceeded the highest flood level in history; landslides, flash floods in many localities, causing extremely heavy damage to people and property of the people and the State.
As of the morning of September 11, storm No. 3 and its circulation have left more than 200 people dead and missing in the northern provinces. Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen... are the provinces that suffered the most damage.
Flood warnings at the alarming level have been issued for many major rivers, posing a risk to dykes and embankments. Authorities are scrambling to ensure the safety of people's lives.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, storm No. 3 has weakened into a tropical depression and is gradually dissipating over the Northwestern region. However, the storm's circulation will continue to cause heavy rain until September 11 in the northern provinces, especially the Northwestern region.
Faced with the damage caused by storm No. 3, General Secretary and President To Lam called for continuing to strongly promote "national love and compatriotism" to provide the highest, fastest, and most timely support to families suffering from loss of life and property caused by natural disasters.
Responding to the call of the General Secretary and President and the Launching Ceremony of supporting compatriots by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promoting the spirit of "mutual love and support", "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves", the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders, cadres, and experts of the advisory and support agencies of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee supported compatriots in the northern provinces affected by storms and storm No. 3 with a total amount of nearly 200 million VND.
Faced with the enormous damage caused by storm No. 3 and the storm's circulation and floods in the northern provinces, on September 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province called on Party committees, authorities, agencies, organizations, cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces, people from all walks of life, religious organizations, social organizations, businesses, and individuals in the province, with their compassion, to actively support people in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
