Seminar commemorating the traditional day of the Vietnamese Science and Technology sector.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 17th, the Nghe An Department of Science and Technology organized a seminar to commemorate the traditional day of the Vietnamese Science and Technology sector (May 18th).
At the seminar, delegates reviewed the historical development of Vietnam's science and technology sector.

Accordingly, on May 18, 1963, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Party and the Government, attended and congratulated the First National Congress of the Vietnam Association for the Dissemination of Science and Technology.
In his speech, he summarized the most important points regarding the development of science and technology in our country, and at the same time, assigned a task that was both difficult and glorious to the Vietnamese scientific and technological intellectual community.
Analyst: We all know that our current level of science and technology is still low. Production methods have not improved much. Working methods are still arduous. Labor productivity is still low. Many outdated customs and practices still exist... Therefore, the task of science is to strive to improve these things. Science is the summation of experiences in the struggle between the exploited class and the exploiting class, and the struggle between man and nature; here, we are only talking specifically about natural science and technology.

At the same time, President Ho Chi Minh emphasized: "Science must originate from production and must return to serve production, serve the masses, in order to increase labor productivity and continuously improve the people's lives, ensuring the victory of socialism."
To uphold the spirit and responsibility of the social community towards the cause of science and technology, and to honor the labor, creativity, and contributions of Vietnam's scientific and technological intellectuals, at the 5th Session of the 13th National Assembly, the Law on Science and Technology was passed, unanimously choosing May 18th every year as Vietnam Science and Technology Day.

In Nghe An province, over the past years, the province has focused on implementing many solutions to develop its scientific and technological potential, promoting research, testing, development, and application of science and technology in many socio-economic, security, and defense fields.
The Department of Science and Technology, in its role as a state management agency, has identified numerous action programs and actively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue several policies to encourage and support organizations and individuals in researching and applying science and technology, improving productivity and the quality of goods and services in the province.

Vietnam Science and Technology Day is a celebration to honor scientists, showcase research and technological development results, and promote the application of science and technology in production. Furthermore, it is an opportunity to raise awareness and foster pride in Vietnamese intellect, a passion for work, and creativity among all segments of the population, especially the younger generation, in the development of the country.

The seminar aimed to widely publicize the achievements of science and technology, innovation, and creativity in the province.

At the same time, this is an opportunity to honor scientists, raise awareness and inspire pride in the intellect, passion for research, application of science and technology, labor, and creativity among all strata of the people, officials, civil servants, employees, and entrepreneurs, especially the younger generation, in the endeavor to build Nghe An province into a Science and Technology Center of the North Central region, in accordance with the spirit of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025, and Resolution No. 39 of the Politburo.
