After storm No. 3 at the end of July, and then storms No. 5 and No. 6, the Ban Ve hydroelectric reservoir was flooded with waste. Thousands of tons of rotten wood, bamboo, and plastic waste from all the streams, rivers, and creeks in Laos and the western region of Nghe An poured in, turning the lake into a giant floating scrap yard.
