Full text of General Secretary To Lam's inaugural speech.

"Dear comrades of the Central Committee!"

Dear comrades attending the conference!

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Politburo for their trust in nominating me, and to the Central Committee members for their confidence in electing and entrusting me with the important responsibility of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 13th term.

This is a great honor, and at the same time a great responsibility before the Party, before the People, before the glorious thousand-year history of the nation's civilization and the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland in the new era.

I pledge before the Central Committee, before the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army, that I will continuously strive and work together with my Central Committee comrades to inherit and strongly promote the glorious traditions and valuable experiences of our Party and the achievements attained by previous Party congresses, including the 13th National Congress; to maximize the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-sufficiency, self-strength, and national pride"; to continuously strengthen unity within the Party and national unity; to continue to promote Party building and rectification, and combat corruption and negative phenomena; to connect thought and action, the Party's will and the people's aspirations; to wholeheartedly and diligently dedicate myself, striving and sacrificing for a strong Communist Party of Vietnam; for a prosperous, democratic, just, and civilized Vietnam; and for the Vietnamese people to have a prosperous and happy life. Focus on directing and organizing well the summary of 40 years of national renewal and the work to successfully organize the 14th National Congress of the Party, inheriting the important theoretical achievements on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam that have been summarized by generations of Party leaders, including General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, to set forth the correct guidelines to lead the country to continue comprehensive development in the coming period.

I firmly believe that the 13th Central Committee of the Party will be a strong collective, a nucleus that unites strength, leading the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines, first and foremost the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, creating a solid foundation to achieve the goals of the country's 100 years under the Party's leadership, 100 years of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and by the middle of the 21st century, our country will become a developed country following a socialist orientation.

The recent changes within the Party have contributed to strengthening the Party's power, consolidating unity and cohesion, enhancing effectiveness and efficiency, and increasing the people's trust in the Party. I hope to continue receiving the close cooperation of the Central Committee members so that I can successfully fulfill the tasks assigned to me.

The road ahead is fraught with difficulties and challenges, but with unity, consensus, the utilization of wisdom and courage, and the strong, correct, and wise decisions of the Party, we are confident that our country will continue to develop and prosper, our people will become increasingly well-off and happy, and our nation will become increasingly strong and resilient, steadily advancing towards socialism.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere and profound gratitude for the trust placed in me by the Central Committee and the entire Party in entrusting me with this great responsibility.
